While there are early signs of a housing market recovery, in the whole Salt Lake County yet again remained sluggish at best, with home prices continuing to come under pressure.

Year on year the median home price for a single family home in Salt Lake County declined slightly, dropping 0.91% to $229,900. The number of homes sold experienced a sharp drop, declining over 20%, with fewer than 2000 home sales in the quarter. The picture becomes more interesting when we compare the data against the previous quarter. Despite a near 35% drop in the number of homes sold (remembering that second quarter home sales were driven by the home buyers tax credit), the median home price actually increased by 4.09%.

The condo housing market appears to be following the same trend as the single family market, with the condo median home price falling 1.9% year on year, but increasing 1.23% compared to the previous quarter.
