April 2012 saw the average Salt Lake County home price increase for the second month in a row. The average price for a home sale in April stood at $223,709, up from $220,206 in April 2012 and $219,611 in March 2012. This encouraging sign is backed up by an increase in the number of homes sold from 942 to 1,079 (April 2011 – April 2012) and a drop in the average number of days it took to sell a home going from 132 to 112.
The average price per square foot also increased going from $90.54 to $94.97, the highest number seen since Nov. 2010.

Home Sales 1,079 up 14.54%
Average Days on Market down 15.15%
Average Price Per Sq. Ft. up 4.97%
Looking forward May’s number also look encouraging, with data so far on track to show a third month of increases.
